German Magnet Motor Replication
Okay could not resist this one, even though I am not sure, but hey that has never stopped me before!!
Will post as I go along as saves me time and I do not loose track, rather than saving it all till the end.
Okay started the replication.
I had some 80mm Tube left over, so cut some end caps.
Attached one end cap to my litle rotary table and used resin glue to attached the tube.
This will get mounted like this now under the CNC Router for drilling.
I have some 12mm small discs here so have worked out by leaving a space of 5mm I can get 15 magnets around the tube and move each one in 2mm at a time.
I have worked out that the tube will end up being around 70mm wide, so will chop the tube down when all magnets are attached.
Check these two links for more info on the original

More to come!

Re: German Magnet Motor Replication
Well what a pain in the ass that was LOL.
Took ages to get the speed right as to not melt the plastic pipe and plenty of WD40.
I have gone more the spacing as shown in the Rendered version
Got it mounted as square as I could on the CNC machine.
Then painfully turned it 24 degree's a go and moved the X along 2mm at a time.
Finished holes.
Next to tap 3mm threads in each hole yawn!
Finally check the magnets line up and chop the sides off.
Now I have to Glue each magnet and use the screws to hold them in place as they dry. Should then be able to remove the screws.
DishWasher burnt out this week and a new one just arrived, so have to go plumb that in now, but back later with more updates.
I am interested to get it mounted and spin it up, but I am 99.9% this is just going to hit a sticky spot along the way. We shall see ;D
Cheers
Sean.

Re: German Magnet Motor Replication
Glued up and decided to mount it in my Bowman Frame ;D
Dunno if this Glue is going to be good enough, so will leave it dry for a few hours and attempt to remove one of the screws. If not it may be time for the messy Hot Glue Gun

Re: German Magnet Motor Replication
You forgot that the head of the V goes in to its tail, compare the 3D drawing with the actual.

Yep noticed that and did extra holes so I can add magnets.
Just finished the install of new Dish Washer, only to find that the new one had same problem grrrrrrrr
Turned out not to be the dishwasher at fault but a blocked water pipe supplying the machine, so that was a waste of £450.00 on a new dishwasher grrrrrrrrr

Re: German Magnet Motor Replication
Well now you have no choice but to sale it on ebay
On motor, I guess the V going into the tail will ease out the wall. But I'm not sure.
So if it fails to start please try with the config in that 3D model also.
Why I'm saying this ?
Because if you see this video
there is obviously a wall where the head and tail meets and that guy must move the magnet out to get it going.
But if you see this one
there is no wall at the junction, may be because he made it overlap, just like this german dude.
But I can't see it clearly, so I'm not sure.

There is a sticky spot as expected and joining the V it tends to get even stronger.
At the moment playing while second lot of Glue setting, looks a right Mess now hehe ;D ;D
So have got the influence of all that Metal intefereing.
As soon as it dries will start playing seriously, I have a funny feeling that shielding may be used to bridge the joining V, we will See!

Here is a video of some testing.

Re: German Magnet Motor Replication
Ouch, the sticky point is too strong. :P
With two bars it locks up with one of them. I guess with 12, it will lock up again, but it will be interesting to see the 11 others trying to rotate it against the will of mother nature.....
Have you considered that moving the bars away (or using weaker magnets) could reduce the wall and the momentum of the drum could get it past .. ?
I guess the drum is not balanced, may be thats not important, but just guessing. How about making it intentionally unbalanced by adding a weight at a point such that it brings the wheel out of the sticky point ?

Re: German Magnet Motor Replication
Actually I think the first part of the video where Sean pulsed the stator by hand was the key for getting it to really run. I think you might need an eccentric rotor. Offset the axis of the rotor to the location that you where pulsing the stator by hand and it may run. Or recess the rotor magnets further in at that location. Cool video BTW..

Re: German Magnet Motor Replication
Very nice as always Sean , will watch the video when get home from work. But the stator magnets all appear on one side of the cylinder from the pics i have seen, i cannot quite understand how that would create an imbalance. But if it works i suppose it must be.

Re: German Magnet Motor Replication
Sean, You might want to add flywheel mass to help overcome the sticky point or to at least give it more enertia. Looking at the video it appears to be slowing down at the end.
Perhaps Sean left it running then went to work for a week. If it still is running when he comes back then that would be a very good thing .

No it stopped like all the rest!!
Sorry no updates this end, been a mad week work wise with no time to even get online much and this weekend has flown sorting out some other stuff.
Lots of new bits arrived but does not look like I will get much time to get out in the workshop.
Cheers
Sean.

Re: German Magnet Motor Replication
Hi Sean and All,
Just noticed Dietmar Hohl uploaded two pdf file drawings on the Soukup V-Gate-System for replication, see this link to Stefan Hartmann site: http://www.overunity.com/index.php/t...html#msg125460
Maybe the drawings will be useful...

Re: German Magnet Motor Replication
Very Interesting. I have downloaded the 2 PDf file here just in case OverUnity site goes down or gets busy.

Re: German Magnet Motor Replication
After looking at the PDF drawings posted at overunity.com they appear not to be the same design as shown in the video on youtube. The 2nd PDF file design appears to show a small gear driven stator being driven off of a larger rotor ring gear. The video shows nothing of this. I am not saying that it would not work. Just observing that it is not a true representation of the PMM in the youtube video. I am not sure who Dietmar Hohl is but his posting on overunity.com included this web site link.
http://www.magnetmotor.at/
Which appears to be a german forum. One of the links shows an animation of a PMM idea
http://www.myvideo.de/watch/3047324/...ET_MOTOR_HJ_7a
It almost looks like someone threw out an idea for someone else to build.
