Default Launching 1st June 2009

Okay another Steorn maybe?, official launch date of June 1st 2009

Tempted to replicate this now, as have all the bits here, including magnets on sliders ummmmm

Have emailed them for a Login

I see flaws in the model.
First, it is a 2D program and we only get to see an atom thick slice of reality for magnetic interactions.
Second, the magnets will not move naturally in the manner shown. As they draw to the center they are in opposition to each other and will resist the compression shown.
Third, the springs are there to pull the magnets back, but they work against the compression period.
Forth, the model does not show a magnetic mechanism for the slow inward ramp and fast retract.

For this model to function as demonstrated, there must be energy applied somewhere. On the surface it would seem that the entry hill is compounded by the listed forces as well as the resistance encountered my the opposing stator/rotor encroachment. The exit hill will simply be the inverse of the entry hill.

It looks like a conservative system. What am I missing?

ETA: Perhaps J shaped rotor mags will be a better fit for this design. Also, perhaps a Non-Newtonian fluid diaphragm could be useful somehow.

Got to agree with you both and hence why it makes it interesting.

Got a reply and have agreed to sign a NDA

Have been knocking emails back and forth to Brad at Open Energy Laboratories and must admit he seems a really genuine guy that wants to put this information out there for replication.

Hoping to get the build specs this week and will release the build as it goes along as usual.

I have to stay within their rules to what information I can release, but showing the build does not seem to be a problem.

More to come

Greetings CLaNZeR and all

I have also been in conversation with Brad. He fully believes it is an answer but not the only one. I also see possible improvements in the design to come from our conversations, but at this time it is all I can say.

i think when this guy said " strange" or " unusual" i think he just means he doesnt understand whats happening. the things he is referencing are normal magnetic phenomena.
like eddy currents perpendicular to the field, or the 'rocking back and forth' at a pole boundary.....
patience would probably be the best method of taking in what hes saying here.

if hes going to keep trying to use those crescents, he needs a much stronger "remagnetizer"
or wrap a coil around that thing and zap it with 24vDC for a min or two..
let it heat up.

Howard Johnson had something going here, this one was an advanced model based on 20+ years of work originating with his 'stonehenge' design. probably as good a place to start as any...

I have now split away the posts on this thread that were talking about CNC machines and moved to it's own area

Hi Obelix

You need to signup at OEL and get the NDA in place, then you can download the file.

Cheers

Sean.
